We had a lockdown but it only lasted three days just to be sure there was no further community spread. We are back to level 2 which is basically freedom but in limited size groups etc.
During the lockdown I realised that our fridge was no longer cooling properly. Yes, I could have tried to have it repaired but to be honest, it's nearly 20 years old and owes us nothing so I bought a new one online which, amazingly, got delivered within two hours and they took away my old one. I always deal with a local company and they always give the best price and the best service.
We are having the oldest grandson for the weekend and then we are off to the Beach house on Sunday when we return him home. His family are off to their new holiday spot up north and he wants to spend time with his girlfriend -- yes, she is invited up there too but she suffers from some form of anxiety and is too nervous to go. Oh dear, I do hope her anxiety does not affect him too much going forward.
On top of the fridge not working, we now have issues with our ducted air conditioning. To be fair, it's way, way overdue for a good service and all we've been doing is cleaning the filter. It is now blowing too hard so clearly there is some sort of leak/break in the intake pipes allowing too much air in. I've organised that and will just have to wait for the serviceman to get back with a time which will be after we get back from the beach house.
That's it, no other news at all except that my new knee bothers me from time to time but that's life. Sometimes it's stiff and other times it feels loose or mildly painful. I can still walk so its not all bad.

My new refrigerator -- I love it! Lots of new features, better freezer size and it's the same size and set up as the one at our beach house so it will be less confusing when swapping between houses.

Is the freezer in the bottom a drawer or a door?
ReplyDeleteHow can they know in just a couple days that they have contained everyone sick/exposed? Wouldn’t it take two weeks?
Hi Vickie: The freezer is in the bottom and it is three drawers. Two with bins and a thin drawer for ice etc. It's so much easier having the most used part (refrigerator) at the top.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the covid, they still have not found the cause/initial case but think it was from the mother who worked at the airport. All the cases are linked and have been in isolation and all contacts, both close and general have been tested. The school where two of the cases went to was closed and every single person tested and must have a negative test prior to returning next week. Clearly the government feel it is contained as they have done over 20,000 tests that have come back negative.
Clearly we are not completely out of the woods but hopefully it is contained and keeping us all in complete lockdown served no purpose. Hopefully they are right!
Yes, that certainly sounds like a well contained plan/system. Whatever I was reading did not explain the details, so I was trying to figure out how they knew they were safe to let everyone out and about again.
DeleteHi your fridge looks the same as mine! how old is Fletcher now?
ReplyDeletePeta
Peta, it is highly likely that your fridge is the same :) It's a F&P 403L. Fletcher is now 15... very grown up (or he likes to think he is).
ReplyDeleteGood service indeed when it comes to the fridge replacement. Wonderful to hear your lockdown is over. Nothing changed here, still in red zone isolation, zero socialization and curfew in place. The Mall opened last week, it was closed since Dec 24, 2020. School break begins next Friday and the Government is trying to find things for families to do, they opted to open the cinemas without concessions being sold, half capacity and mandatory masks. In the next breath they predict a third wave of over 2000 infections per day following the break. It is neverending here! Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing fridge!Looks so modern, and amazing service. Our washing machine has just broken down and hubby as usual is trying to fix it. I want a new one ... here's hoping.
ReplyDeleteHope your covid scare is over. You shut down so quickly, best thing your govt can do!
