We had a few days between appointments and looking after grandkids so decided on a short trip up north. First stop has been the Uretiti DOC (Department of Conservation) camp where we've been many times before. It's always lovely here and we have the annual DOC campsite pass. Tomorrow we are off to another DOC camp up north of Dargaville to hopefully hear and see some Kiwi in the bush.
We had Cole over the weekend and he was lovely—we bought his a keyboard off Trademe (second hand) for only $30 because he has expressed an interest in learning to play a few songs. He actually practiced on it most of the weekend and after he got home. I realise that it might be a passing fad but for $30 it's worth a punt. Stu also took both Cole and F out to the movies on Sunday night so it was quite the family weekend and he LOVED it as much as they did.
Charlie went down to Queenstown with his Dad to go duck shooting with the family down there. He had a fantastic time and loves doing that sort of 'man' stuff with his Dad. We had my daughter and F around for dinner on Saturday night and ended up having a really lovely evening... a few Aperol Spritz were had which helped. My daughter got the taste for them on her European holiday last year :)
Stu's Dad seems pretty happy at the moment. He gets his new bed delivered soon, the one the will elevate his legs. He said the swelling was not so bad when he called today and he was also off the get his mobility card which gets him very cheap taxi fares. It's all good news there thank goodness.
I've done a little bit more research on our big holiday next year and it's pretty overwhelming... I'll get there though, I always do. It will certainly be exciting!
OK, that's all for now... we are both good and life is very good.
